Description

This is a great Product designed to give you more clearance between the battery and the canopy. This is a must have for the bigger (3000 & 3300 ) 6S battery packs. This kit uses any stock or aftermarket Trex 500 canopy mounts. The biggest added bonus is the fact that the carbon fiber canopy mounts are designed to break in the event of a crash. This will help save your frames and canopy. This will help to reduce repair costs and down time. The HD50003 Trex 500 Canopy Relocation Kit also provides added clearance between the canopy and main gear. No need to drill your frames and move your battery tray and/or cut your frames. No frame drilling required this is a bolt on kit execpt for drilling one hole in the canopy. This kit is machined from 1.5mm carbon fiber and includes all hardware and spacers needed to install the kit. See instructions below.

Trex 500 Canopy Relocation Kit Instructions
1. Remove the canopy mounts and the two upper rear main shaft bearing block bolts.

2. Remove studs from the canopy mounts.
3. Assemble using the stock washer from the upper main shaft bearing block and the provided 8mm screw in the center hole of the rear canopy mount.
4. Put two 14mm screws in the outer holes with spacers as shown.
5. Attach the rear canopy mount assembly to the upper bearing block and anti rotation guide with the provided 14mm screws and 4mm spacers.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 for the opposite side.
7. Remove the two rear gear leg bolts and install the rectangle plate between the base plate and the gear legs with the provided screws.
8. Remove the two front gear leg screws and install the T-plate between the base plate and the gear legs using the provided screws.
9. Install a piece of tape on the front canopy mount as shown.
10. Install the canopy by sliping the front over the finger and pop on the rear mounts. Center the front of the canopy on the finger and draw a line on the tape at the back edge of the canopy. It will help to make some marks to center the mount in the next step.
11. Remove the T-plate and place it on top of the canopy. Line up the mark on the tape with the rear edge of the canopy. Make sure the mount is centered and drill a hole through the hole in the T-plate with a 1/8 drill bit.
12. Install the button head screw and 9mm spacer through the T-plate and secure with the 3mm nut as shown.
13. Now open the 3mm hole you drilled in step 11 to 7mm and install the provided rubber grommet.
14. You are finished. Install canopy by pushing the mushroom post throughn the front grommet THEN pop on the rear mounts.
15. Remove canopy by poping off the rear mounts THEN put pressure on the mushroom post with your finger and push down on the front of the canopy. Easy on, Easy off.

Trex 500 Canopy Relocation Kit December 30, 2008
Reviewer: Jeff Schwab from Beaverton OR United States
I have a TREX500 ESP with 770 3D Gyro and a full size 8900G tail servo. I am using 2x 3s 2200mah Zippy batteries. This set up with the full size tail servo sat tail heavy. Even with the batteries so far forward they hit the canopy and caused the mounts to bend. Now I can put the batteries far enough forward to balance the Heli. The only installation problem I had was the 14mm screws just bottomed out in the aluminum bearing blocks before they got tight. It looks like the plastic bearing blocks would work fine with 14mm screws. I had to take off about 2mm with a Dremel tool. The anti rotation bracket screws did not bottom out for me. If I did not have to modify the screws I would have given the kit 5 stars. I would have given the kit 6 stars if it came with an extra grommet for my night canopy. The spacers were not threaded and improved from the earlier review.

T-Rex 500 Canopy Relocation Kit December 9, 2008
Reviewer: Alan Edson from Fishers , IN United States
Overall, I liked the design and quality of the parts. However, I did have a few problems installing it. The spacers for the rear canopy post bracket were threaded, not smooth inside so I had to drill them out so I could tighten the screws. Second, the 14mm screws supplied with the kit bottomed out in the anti-rotation bracket before they were tight so I had to cut them down to 11mm. Just minor problems but something that should be addressed during manufacture.
